About This Coin

The One-Year-Only Full-Silver Kennedy

The first year of the Kennedy Half Dollar, struck in 90% silver. Issued after President Kennedy's assassination, these coins remain highly collectible and historic.

Authorized within weeks of President Kennedy's assassination, the 1964 Half Dollar was the only year struck in the traditional 90% silver alloy — later issues moved to 40% silver and then to copper-nickel clad. The combination of historical weight and full silver content makes 1964 the most collected date in the series.
